Asuransi berasal dari bahasa Inggris yaitu insurance yang kemudian di adopsi ke dalam bahasa Indonesia dan populer dengan istilah asuransi. Sinonim dari kamus KBBI adalah pertanggungan. 

   Berdasarkan pada UU Nomor 40 tahun 2014, tentang perasuransian, asuransi merupakan perjanjian antara dua belah pihak yaitu pemegang polis
